Pattern Recognition Guide

Master the art of identifying SMC patterns on live charts with our comprehensive recognition guide

Step 1: Identify Trend

Start by analyzing the higher timeframe (4H or Daily) to determine the overall market trend. Look for clear Higher Highs and Higher Lows (uptrend) or Lower Highs and Lower Lows (downtrend).

  • Mark swing highs and swing lows
  • Use 50-period MA for trend direction
  • Higher timeframe = more reliable

Step 2: Mark Key Zones

Identify and mark Order Blocks, Fair Value Gaps, and liquidity zones on your chart. These areas represent institutional interest and high-probability reversal points.

  • Find last opposite candle before BOS
  • Identify 3-candle FVG patterns
  • Mark equal highs/lows (liquidity)

Step 3: Wait for Confirmation

Never enter trades based on assumptions. Wait for clear confirmation signals such as BOS, CHoCH, or rejection from key zones before placing your entry.

  • Wait for 3 closes beyond structure
  • Look for rejection candles
  • Confirm on lower timeframe

  • Stop loss placed beyond structure
  • Risk is 1-2% of account maximum
